Somerset Animal Information Services was established in 2023 to provide reliable, accessible support for animal owners, carers, and local businesses. What began as a small page within the Facebook group Wilstock and Stockmoor Animal Friends and Rescue Support Group (now known as Animal Friends and Rescue Support Group) quickly grew into a much larger platform.
Since launching, the website and social media pages have developed significantly, becoming a trusted space for guidance, resources, and community support. The platform has gone through many improvements over time, continuously evolving to better serve its audience.
In addition to supporting animal welfare, Somerset Animal Information Services is also committed to helping small, local animal-related businesses grow. The platform has already supported several individuals in starting their own ventures, offering advice, promotion, and encouragement along the way.
A Lifelong Passion for Animals
Darren is the owner and creator of Somerset Animal Information Services. At 18 years old, he works full-time as an animal care assistant at a local animal centre in Somerset, gaining hands-on experience caring for dogs and cats every day. He currently lives with four rescue dogs, two cats, and several small animals.
Overcoming Challenges & Growing the Platform
Darren is open about having dyslexia and takes pride in building something meaningful through determination and hard work. Despite challenges, he has successfully grown SAIS from a small Facebook page into a recognised and expanding platform.
His goal is to continue growing the platform while supporting others, particularly those starting their own animal-related businesses.
